Library of Ptolemy & The Pharos of Sotha Dossiers

Known before their reunion with Roboute Guilliman on Macragge as the 'War-Born' (XIII Legion), the original Terran Ultramarines were recruited from the brutal sub-equatorial pan-Pacific tribes and hyper-violent hive-states that had resisted Unification the longest. Once Guilliman assumed command, he transformed the XIII into an empire-building war machine governed by theoretical and practical tactical treatises, eventually expanding to 250,000 Legionaries by the eve of the Battle of Calth.

Yet even the 'Avenging Sons' harbor secrets buried inside the Library of Ptolemy on Macragge: the creation of 'Imperium Secundus' during the Ruinstorm—when Guilliman, believing Terra had fallen, crowned Sanguinius regent of a second Imperium with Lion El'Jonson as Lord Protector, an act Guilliman himself later feared would be viewed as high treason—and their use of the xenos beacon on Mount Pharos, whose catastrophic overload during the Heresy sent the psychic pulse across intergalactic space that first drew the Tyranid Hive Mind toward the Milky Way.

Sub-Factions, Secret Orders & Classified Relics

  • The Victrix Honour Guard & Tyrannic War Veterans — Elite formations clad in Pteruges and Gladius blades, or scarred survivors of Battle for Macragge trained specifically by Chaplain Cassius to hunt bio-titans.
  • The Tetrarchs of Ultramar — Four Space Marine Lord-Commanders restored by Roboute Guilliman in M42 to govern the expanded Five Hundred Worlds from Konor, Iax, Talassar, and Oceana.
  • The Nemesis Chapter (22nd Chapter of the XIII Legion) — The Heresy-era 'Destroyer' wing of the Ultramarines, shunned by their own brothers for wielding forbidden rad-phage and phosphex weapons learned during the compliance of Osiris alongside the Night Lords.
