Black Templars

The Eternal Crusade — Sebastus IV Apocrypha & Navis Nobilite Pact

Born when Sigismund—First Captain of the Imperial Fists and the first Emperor's Champion—took the most zealous brethren of the VII Legion during the Second Founding and swore a vow to never stop crusading until every enemy of the Golden Throne is ash, the Black Templars are unique among First Founding lineages: they openly worship the Emperor as a living god and reject the Codex Astartes's 1,000-marine limit.

By exploiting a legal loophole in Roboute Guilliman's Codex—which permits a Chapter actively engaged in an active Crusade to temporarily exceed its manpower limits—the Black Templars have remained on an unbroken 'Eternal Crusade' for ten thousand years, fielding an estimated 5,000 to 6,000 Space Marines across dozens of independent Crusade Fleets commanded by Marshals under the High Marshal aboard the Gloriana-class flagship 'Eternal Crusader'.

Sub-Factions, Secret Orders & Classified Relics

• The Sword Brethren & Castellan Households — The High Marshal's veteran inner circle, wearing red-on-black Maltese crosses and sworn to personal oaths rather than Codex squad markings.
• The Navis Nobilite Debt-Houses — Ancient Navigator dynasties secretly bound by blood-pacts to the Black Templars since the Age of Apostasy, providing hundreds of Navigator scions to guide the Chapter's decentralized Crusade fleets.
• The Declates & Armageddon Crusades — Legendary multi-chapter campaigns where Black Templars fought side-by-side with Crimson Fists (wearing each other's badges on their kneepads in eternal brotherhood).
