The Galactic Core — The Votann Ancestor Cores, Cloneskeins & Ironkin

For ten thousand years, neither the Imperium nor the Adeptus Mechanicus realized who truly inhabited the ultra-dense, black-hole-ringed Galactic Core—dismissing scattered sightings as 'Squats', 'Demiurg' xenos, or minor abhuman merchants. In truth, the 'Kin' of the Leagues of Votann are descendants of pre-Imperial 'Long March' mining colonists dispatched from Old Terra during the Dark Age of Technology equipped with sentient, self-upgrading Quantum-AI supercomputers called the 'Votann' ('Ancestor Cores').

Every single Kin—whether flesh-and-blood (grown in 'Crucibles' using tailored genetic 'Cloneskeins') or fully mechanical 'Ironkin' (true Artificial Intelligences with cerebral units treated as complete equals across Kin society: 'Kin is Kin')—lives to gather experience and data, returning at death to be uploaded into their Kindred's Votann. Yet after twenty millennia of accumulating trillions of dead personalities without a memory-wipe, the Votann are going senile—taking decades to answer a single question while developing eccentric, mad obsessions.

• The Greater Thurian League (Ûthar the Destined) — The largest and most militant League operating along the Great Rift.
• The Kronus Hegemony & Ymyr Conglomerate — Hyper-aggressive Kindreds formed when a sleeping Votann spontaneously awoke with a militant personality, or masters of advanced conversion-beamers and relic shielding.
• House Hawkshroud & Necromunda 'Ironhead Squat Prospectors' — Descendants of Kin who migrated out of the Core millennia ago to settle Necromunda after its wars.
