Imperium of Man

Imperium of Man

The sprawling, million-world human empire founded by the Emperor during the Great Crusade. Ten thousand years after the Horus Heresy it is ruled in the Emperor's name by the High Lords of Terra and, in the Era Indomitus, by the resurrected Primarch Roboute Guilliman as Lord Regent. It survives through faith, bureaucracy and endless war.

Imperial Palace & Senatorum Imperialis Black Archives

Behind the public facade of the Imperial Creed and the Senatorum Imperialis lies a labyrinth of competing clandestine directorates, calendrical schisms, and genetic tithes that even planetary governors never learn. Because warp transit distorts relativistic time, the Administratum's Officio Logisticarum relies on the 'Check-Year' (0 through 999) and the 'Fraction' (1/1000th of a Terran sidereal year) annotated with a 'Makr' suffix (0 through 7) indicating how distant an event's psychic astropathic relay was from Sanctus Terra. When Roboute Guilliman awoke in M42 and founded the Logos Historica Verita, his chroniclers discovered that competing Ordo Chronos purges and Ecclesiarchy revisions had left a 1,000-year discrepancy across the Imperium's calendars.

Even the currency and human lives of the Imperium operate on grim, classified economies: while Throne Gelt rules the Calixis Sector and Imperial Credits circulate in the Ultima Segmentum, the Administratum's deepest tithe-ledgers calculate planetary worth in 'Solars' of biomatter, promethium, and psykers harvested by the League of Blackships to feed the Astronomican and the Golden Throne.

Sub-Factions, Secret Orders & Classified Relics

  • Logos Historica Verita — Roboute Guilliman's hand-picked order of truth-seekers and armed archivists tasked with recovering pre-Heresy history erased by the Inquisition.
  • Adeptus Astra Telepathica (League of Blackships) — The silent, dread armada that circuits the galaxy every century to harvest nascent psykers for the Soul-Binding ritual or the Golden Throne's furnaces.
  • Elucidian Starstriders & Militarum Tempestus Rogue Warrant Holders — Dynastic bearers of ancient Trade Warrants signed in the Emperor's own blood during the Great Crusade, legally exempt from Imperial law beyond the Fringe.
