In Ork culture, there is no such thing as 'enough dakka,' and no Greenskins embody that sacred philosophy more extravagantly than the mercenary Freebooterz known as Flash Gitz and the kleptomaniac heavy-weapons mobs called Lootas. While a common Ork Boy is content with a clattering Shoota or shoulder-slung Big Shoota, a Flash Git invests every teef he plunders into a bespoke, Mek-built masterpiece of overkill known as a Snazzgun.

Suspended from a hydraulic harness bolted directly into the Nob's shoulder armour and tended by a cowering Ammo Runt lugging crates of shells, a Snazzgun is less a rifle than an entire armoury welded into a single frame. One Snazzgun might combine a three-barrelled rotary autocannon with a looted Imperial plasma core and an under-slung rokkit launcher; the next might spit crackling beams of zzap-lightning alongside belt-fed explosive slugs.

Design, mechanism & battlefield effect

Because every Snazzgun and Loota Deffgun is individually cobbled together by a Mekboy in a fit of inspired tinkering, no two operate on the exact same principle. Most pair high-calibre rotary or multi-barrelled kinetic assemblies (derived from Big Shootas, heavy bolters or assault cannons) with volatile kustom mega-blasta energy capacitors and targeters ('gitfindas') that mostly serve to make the gun look flashier.

The crowning jewel of all Snazzguns is Da Rippa, carried by the infamous Freebooter Kaptin Badrukk: an ancient, heavily shielded plasma-and-slug cannon whose radioactive core burns so hot that Badrukk has to wear a lead-lined coat just to carry it.

Patterns, variants & doctrine

The family of Ork heavy dakka ranges from the ubiquitous belt-fed Big Shoota mounted on Trukks and carried by Boyz, to the shoulder-crushing Deffguns of Loota mobs (stripped from wrecked Leman Russes and Dreadnoughts), the shoulder-mounted Kustom Mega-Blasta of Mekboyz, and the four-barrelled roar of Ghazghkull Thraka's personal cannon, Mork's Roar.

• Da Rippa: The legendary, radiation-spewing relic Snazzgun of Freebooter Kaptin Badrukk, whose unstable plasma-shells melt tanks into glowing slag.
